Laws § 380.1166a","heading":"Model program of instruction in career development; \"the superintendent Brian Whiston career pathways law.\"","body":"Sec. 1166a.\n\n(1) Not later than January 1, 2019, the department, in consultation with the department of talent and economic development, shall develop or adopt, and make available to schools, a model program of instruction in career development that meets at least all of the following:\n\n(a) Defines learning targets and themes for each grade level.\n\n(b) Includes instruction for pupils in grades K to 12.\n\n(c) Incorporates career development education embedded within core instruction.\n\n(d) Includes strategies for engaging parents and community business and industry interests.\n\n(2) Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, the board of a school district or board of directors of a public school academy shall ensure that the school district's or public school academy's curriculum incorporates grade-appropriate instruction on career development in each grade level in grades K to 12.\n\n(3) This section shall be known and may be cited as \"the superintendent Brian Whiston career pathways law\".","path":["MI Code","Chapter 380","Act Act-451-of-1976"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-380-1166a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"141974941035a2e7776df89492bba3bdb8de4f5bd7d5ece1fca07dbb18bd88a1","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1166","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1166b"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
