Laws § 380.1178a","heading":"Administration of medications; duties of department.","body":"Sec. 1178a.\n\nNot later than October 1, 2002, the department shall do all of the following:\n\nReview all guidelines, policies, or other publications produced by the department or another state agency concerning administration of medications to pupils at school and revise them as necessary.\n\nMake available to all school districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies a model local policy concerning administration of medications to pupils at school.\n\nThe model local policy developed under subsection (1) shall address the type and amount of training that may be required for persons who participate in administering medications to pupils at school. In developing this part of the policy, the department may consider training programs offered by the Michigan association of school nurses and by other public health organizations.\n\nNot later than 1 year after the effective date of this section, each school board, intermediate school board, and public school academy board of directors shall review its local policy concerning administration of medications to pupils at school. This review shall take place at a public meeting.\n\nSchool boards, intermediate school boards, and public school academy boards of directors are encouraged to align their local policies with the model policy developed under subsection (1) and are encouraged to provide appropriate training to persons who participate in administering medications to pupils at school.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 380","Act Act-451-of-1976"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-380-1178a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"f960620e9d3a2b27b80e3b6db8a7832727d3f6a2a3d6619523b21e88f2e2e556","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1178","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1179"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
