Laws § 380.1527","heading":"Teacher professional development; number of days; professional development provided by state-approved nonpublic school.","body":"Sec. 1527.\n\n(1) The board of each school district, intermediate school district, or public school academy shall provide at least 5 days of teacher professional development each school year.\n\n(2) A state-approved nonpublic school may provide teacher professional development for nonpublic school teachers. The department shall credit this professional development toward the issuance or renewal of a teaching certificate or endorsement to the same extent as professional development provided by a public school is credited for its teachers for those purposes if the department determines that all of the following are met:\n\n(a) The professional development provides substantially the same program content as professional development provided by a public school that is credited by the department toward the issuance or renewal of a teaching certificate or endorsement.\n\n(b) The nonpublic school submits to the same auditing and documentation requirements for professional development as a public school.\n\n(3) Professional development days provided under this section shall not be counted toward the professional development required under section 1526.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 380","Act Act-451-of-1976"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-380-1527","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"931b153167a1e457aa4903ce255daac8e760b92aa087e28dfdf43b8f5d26454d","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1526b","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.1531"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
