Laws § 380.483a","heading":"Functions of board; transfer of powers and duties.","body":"Sec. 483a.\n\nThis section applies to a first class school district only if the question under section 410 is not approved in the first class school district.\n\nThe first class school district board shall perform the following functions:\n\nCentral purchasing.\n\nPayroll.\n\nEmployment, discharge, assignment, and promotion of teachers and other employees of the district.\n\nContract negotiations for all employees, subject to 1947 PA 336, MCL 423.201 to 423.217, and subject to bargaining certification and the collective bargaining agreement pertaining to affected employees.\n\nProperty management and maintenance and the use of educational facilities.\n\nBonding.\n\nSpecial education programs.\n\nAllocation of funds for capital outlay and operations.\n\nDetermination of the curriculum and the establishment of educational and testing programs.\n\nAdoption of a budget.\n\nAll powers and duties formerly vested in the regional boards are transferred to the first class school district board.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 380","Act Act-451-of-1976"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-380-483a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"fe8d0a48f023e34ff1d3ce51e06cdb5d0711b521538c28df3d9b4fdc9be0d324","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.475","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-380.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
