Laws § 388.1661d","heading":"Career and technical education incentive programs; additional payments to districts; definitions.","body":"Sec. 61d.\n\n(1) From the state school aid fund money in section 11, there is allocated for 2025-2026 only an amount not to exceed $13,400,000.00 for additional payments to districts for career and technical education programs for the purpose of increasing the number of Michigan residents with high-quality degrees or credentials, and to increase the number of pupils who are college- and career-ready upon high school graduation.\n\n(2) The department shall calculate payments to districts under this section in the following manner:\n\n(a) A payment of $88.00 multiplied by the number of pupils in grades 9 to 12 who are counted in membership in the district and are enrolled in at least 1 career and technical education program.\n\n(b) An additional payment of $88.00 multiplied by the number of pupils in grades 9 to 12 who are counted in membership in the district and are enrolled in at least 1 career and technical education program that provides instruction in critical skills and high-demand career fields.\n\n(3) If the allocation under subsection (1) is insufficient to fully fund payments under subsection (2), the department shall prorate payments under this section on an equal per-pupil basis.\n\n(4) As used in this section:\n\n(a) \"Career and technical education program\" means a state-approved career and technical education program, as determined by the department.\n\n(b) \"Career and technical education program that provides instruction in critical skills and high-demand career field\" means a career and technical education program classified under any of the following 2-digit classification of instructional programs (CIP) codes:\n\n( i ) 01, which refers to \"agriculture, agriculture operations, and related sciences\".\n\n( ii ) 03, which refers to \"natural resources and conservation\".\n\n( iii ) 10 through 11, which refers to \"communications technologies/technicians and support services\" and \"computer and information sciences and support services\".\n\n( iv ) 14 through 15, which refers to \"engineering\" and \"engineering technologies and engineering-related fields\".\n\n( v ) 26, which refers to \"biological and biomedical sciences\".\n\n( vi ) 46 through 48, which refers to \"construction trades\", \"mechanic and repair technologies/technicians\", and \"precision production\".\n\n( vii ) 51, which refers to \"health professions and related programs\".","path":["MI Code","Chapter 388","Act Act-94-of-1979"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-388-1661d","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"ce0bfb87a9c8020e83fa3e89e728233fac81a1a7d26c218b136ca1889bab2e85","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-388.1661b","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-388.1661j"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
