Laws § 388.1882","heading":"Institutions receiving funds under MCL 388.1878, 388.1879, or 388.1881; providing unobligated and unexpended funds; plan to expend remaining funds; direct or indirect financial aid; prohibition.","body":"Sec. 282.\n\n(1) Each institution receiving funds for fiscal year 2025-2026 under section 278, 279, or 281 shall provide to the department of labor and economic opportunity by April 15, 2026 the unobligated and unexpended funds as of March 31, 2026 and a plan to expend the remaining funds by the end of the fiscal year. Notwithstanding the award limitations in sections 278 and 279, the amount of funding reported as not being expended will be reallocated to the institutions that intend to expend all funding received under section 278, 279, or 281.\n\n(2) Funds received for the purpose of administering programs under sections 278, 279, and 281 must not be used for direct financial aid or indirect financial aid. However, a public university may provide academic incentives to motivate participating students as approved by the department. As used in this subsection:\n\n(a) \"Direct financial aid\" includes, but is not limited to, scholarships, payment of tuition, stipends, and work-studies.\n\n(b) \"Indirect financial aid\" includes, but is not limited to, transportation, textbook allowances, child care support, and assistance with medical premiums or expenses.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 388","Act Act-94-of-1979"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-388-1882","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"321c0bb5a94e22385aa8107f942ae53e6b6cb567c109b23245b9e81eb703a687","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-388.1881","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-388.1883"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
