Laws § 389.35a","heading":"Conditions to organization of community college district consisting of single school district.","body":"Sec. 35a.\n\nA community college district consisting of a single school district shall be organized under the control of a separate governing board if:\n\nThe board of education of the school district adopts a resolution requesting the organization of the community college under the control of a separate governing board. The secretary of the board of education shall refer the resolution to the state board of education for approval.\n\nA majority of the electors of the school district voting thereon approve the organization.\n\nA board of trustees for the community college is elected by a majority of the electors voting thereon pursuant to section 34.\n\nThe community college district shall not be organized under a separate governing board if all the requirements of subsection (1) are not fulfilled.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 389","Act Act-331-of-1966"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-389-35a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"832bef948ffe6ceafcb1c617754f72f1a8f5bc23d056ce361f5ce745b3d1184c","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-389.35","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-389.36"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
