Laws § 390.711","heading":"Saginaw valley state university; establishment; location; maintenance; equal availability of facilities; powers of board of control.","body":"Sec. 1.\n\nThere is established a state institution of higher education known as Saginaw valley state university to be located in a 3-county area comprising the counties of Bay, Midland, and Saginaw. The institution shall be maintained by the state and its facilities shall be made equally available and upon the same basis to all qualified residents of this state. The conduct of its affairs and control of its property shall be vested in a board of control, the members of which shall constitute a body corporate.\n\nIn addition to any other powers granted by law, the board has all of the following powers:\n\nGeneral supervision of the university.\n\nControl and direction of all expenditures from the university's funds.\n\nThe right to sue and be sued.\n\nAdoption of a seal and altering of a seal.\n\nAs used in this act, \"board\" means the board of control of Saginaw valley state university.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 390","Act Act-278-of-1965"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-390-711","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"507cf26662b7e301901109c3e2ec734435f5677c7f5d8d6d1e57882d6ddf2364","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-390.123","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-390.712"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
