Laws § 397.155","heading":"Board of trustees; powers.","body":"Sec. 5.\n\nThe board of trustees of each regional library so established shall have the following powers:\n\nTo establish, maintain and operate a public library for the region.\n\nTo appoint a professionally qualified librarian, and the necessary assistants, and to fix their compensation. Said board shall also have the power to remove said librarian and other assistants.\n\nTo purchase books, periodicals, equipment and supplies.\n\nTo purchase sites and erect buildings, or to lease suitable quarters, and to have supervision and control of such property.\n\nTo borrow books from and lend books to other libraries.\n\nTo enter into contracts to receive service from or give service to libraries within or without the region and to give service to municipalities without the region which have no libraries.\n\nTo have exclusive control of the expenditure of all moneys collected to the credit of the library fund.\n\nTo make such bylaws, rules and regulations not inconsistent with this act as may be expedient for their own government and that of the library.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 397","Act Act-250-of-1931"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-397-155","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"ff3d0951a09739f6989f6811836fe15b9a6373c394fb8974092b86b173fcce5f","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-397.153","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-397.156"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
