Laws § 400.586j","heading":"Retaliation or discrimination as misdemeanor; unlawful conduct; fine.","body":"Sec. 6j.\n\nA person who retaliates or discriminates against any of the following individuals due to that individual's registration of a complaint or assistance in the investigation of a complaint is guilty of a misdemeanor:\n\nAn officer, employee, resident, or visitor to a long-term care facility.\n\nA family member or guardian of a resident in a long-term care facility.\n\nAn ombudsman described by this act.\n\nA volunteer at a long-term care facility.\n\nA person who willfully does any of the following in connection with an ombudsman described by this act is subject to a fine of not more than $1,500.00:\n\nHinders the work of an ombudsman or an ombudsman program.\n\nRefuses to comply with a lawful request of an ombudsman.\n\nOffers compensation or other promises to improperly influence the outcome of a matter being investigated by an ombudsman.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 400","Act Act-180-of-1981"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-400-586j","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"57b98dbbd20aaf92476cfa43de4a8dfe3d149c1a8215631ee64e4668b579d6db","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-400.586i","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-400.586k"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
