Laws § 400.792","heading":"Home visitation programs; purpose; duties.","body":"Sec. 2.\n\n(1) The departments shall only support home visitation programs that include periodic home visits to improve the health, well-being, and self-sufficiency of parents and their children.\n\n(2) Home visitation programs supported under this act shall provide face-to-face visits by nurses, social workers, and other early childhood and health professionals or trained and supervised lay workers.\n\n(3) Home visitation programs supported under this act shall do 1 or more of the following:\n\n(a) Work to improve maternal, infant, or child health outcomes including reducing preterm births.\n\n(b) Promote positive parenting practices.\n\n(c) Build healthy parent and child relationships.\n\n(d) Enhance social-emotional development.\n\n(e) Support cognitive development of children.\n\n(f) Improve the health of the family.\n\n(g) Empower families to be self-sufficient.\n\n(h) Reduce child maltreatment and injury.\n\n(i) Increase school readiness.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 400","Act Act-291-of-2012"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-400-792","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"dbe5d0eff3a728e254200863a7f09bc302234cf746d06fc6636d36e44c875eb3","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-400.791","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-400.793"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
