Laws § 409.102","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Sec. 2.\n\nAs used in this act:\n\n(a) \"Department\" means the department of labor and economic opportunity.\n\n(b) \"Director\" means the director of the department or the director's designee.\n\n(c) \"Employ\" means engage, permit, or allow to work.\n\n(d) \"Employer\" means a person, firm, or corporation that employs a minor, and includes this state or a political subdivision of this state, an agency or instrumentality of this state, and an agent of an employer.\n\n(e) \"Issuing officer\" means the chief administrator of a school district, intermediate school district, public school academy, or nonpublic school, or a person authorized by that chief administrator in writing to act on the chief administrator's behalf.\n\n(f) \"Minor\" means a person under 18 years of age.\n\n(g) \"Registration system\" means the registration system created under section 4b.\n\n(h) \"Rule\" means a rule promulgated under the administrative procedures act of 1969, 1969 PA 306, MCL 24.201 to 24.328.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 409","Act Act-90-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-409-102","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"2438a3ffa92aa2da72cb20929a6a59b9de1de7a929423b771ae3c3cc9e68e350","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-409.101","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-409.103"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
