Laws § 426.154","heading":"Violation of act; penalty.","body":"Sec. 4.\n\nAny person who shall knowingly do any act or thing declared unlawful in any of the sections of this act, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding 200 dollars or by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding 1 year, or by both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the court, and upon a second conviction, for a like misdemeanor, he shall be punished by a fine not exceeding 500 dollars or by imprisonment in the county jail for a term not exceeding 1 year and the court may enforce the payment of any fine imposed under the provisions of this act, by imprisonment in the county jail for a term not exceeding 1 year.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 426","Act Act-238-of-1879"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-426-154","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"637dee5952502633fd566683abcc3066aaff71e1d82ad6cbdd5e97fd7bc8837d","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-426.153","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-426.155"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
