Laws § 429.113","heading":"Violation of act; penalty; civil action; damages; relief; allegation and proof of compliance.","body":"Sec. 3.\n\n(1) A person that violates this act is guilty of a misdemeanor. Each container possessed in violation of this act is a separate offense.\n\n(2) A person may bring a civil action against a person that violates section 2(1) for damages or equitable relief. In an action for damages, the person may recover actual damages or $2,000.00, whichever is greater, for each violation of section 2(1) and costs and reasonable attorney fees.\n\n(3) A person who brings an action in a court in this state to collect payment for transferring liquefied petroleum or carbonic gas into or out of a stationary liquefied petroleum or carbonic gas container must allege and prove that the person complied with section 2(1) in the transfer of the gas to prevail in that action.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 429","Act Act-241-of-1959"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-429-113","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"9bbcfdeaba4fc5548aaa47e100a978eae70d658fad4f83a763e2cfff89d4b9e7","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-429.112","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-429.31"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
