Laws § 436.1509","heading":"Liquor licenses; municipal civic center or civic auditorium; conditions and limitations.","body":"Sec. 509.\n\n(1) The commission may issue, without regard to the quota provisions of section 531, licenses to a commission, board, or authority governing or operating a municipal civic center or civic auditorium or to 1 or more of its concessionaires, or to both, if all of the following apply:\n\n(a) The center or auditorium is within a city or township having a population of not less than 5,500.\n\n(b) The center or auditorium is owned and operated as a municipal enterprise.\n\n(c) The legislative body of the municipality first authorizes the operating authority of the civic center or civic auditorium or its concessionaire to apply to the commission for a license.\n\n(2) Licenses issued under this section are not transferable, must not be issued to an educational institution or for a facility operated in connection with an educational institution, and must authorize the sale of alcoholic liquor only in connection with a scheduled event at the licensed premises.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 436","Act Act-58-of-1998"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-436-1509","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"643d52a2f8da8cb47c37f221119ef4b7895250a25349cb342200c11868651943","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-436.1507","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-436.1511"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
