Laws § 440.9308","heading":"When security interest or agricultural lien is perfected; continuity of perfection.","body":"Sec. 9308.\n\nExcept as otherwise provided in this section and section 9309, a security interest is perfected if it has attached and all of the applicable requirements for perfection in sections 9310 through 9316 have been satisfied. A security interest is perfected when it attaches if the applicable requirements are satisfied before the security interest attaches.\n\nAn agricultural lien is perfected if it has become effective and all of the applicable requirements for perfection in section 9310 have been satisfied. An agricultural lien is perfected when it becomes effective if the applicable requirements are satisfied before the agricultural lien becomes effective.\n\nA security interest or agricultural lien is perfected continuously if it is originally perfected by 1 method under this article and is later perfected by another method under this article, without an intermediate period when it was unperfected.\n\nPerfection of a security interest in collateral also perfects a security interest in a supporting obligation for the collateral.\n\nPerfection of a security interest in a right to payment or performance also perfects a security interest in a security interest, mortgage, or other lien on personal or real property securing the right.\n\nPerfection of a security interest in a securities account also perfects a security interest in the security entitlements carried in the securities account.\n\nPerfection of a security interest in a commodity account also perfects a security interest in the commodity contracts carried in the commodity account.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 440","Act Act-174-of-1962"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-440-9308","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"7125c75fbe57e8a4fa2b7a6721e3fe026e973ddf65855ebd35ae61eb0ae9cf8c","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9307","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9309"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
