Laws § 440.9617","heading":"Rights of transferee of collateral.","body":"Sec. 9617.\n\nA secured party's disposition of collateral after default does all of the following:\n\nTransfers to a transferee for value all of the debtor's rights in the collateral.\n\nDischarges the security interest under which the disposition is made.\n\nDischarges any subordinate security interest or other subordinate lien.\n\nA transferee that acts in good faith takes free of the rights and interests described in subsection (1), even if the secured party fails to comply with this article or the requirements of any judicial proceeding.\n\nIf a transferee does not take free of the rights and interests described in subsection (1), the transferee takes the collateral subject to all of the following:\n\nThe debtor's rights in the collateral.\n\nThe security interest or agricultural lien under which the disposition is made.\n\nAny other security interest or other lien.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 440","Act Act-174-of-1962"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-440-9617","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"1f01886864d9d58dc31b3cb7dd52908eac517b8fe3cf0829f31c82565ff19f42","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9616","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9618"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
