Laws § 440.9704","heading":"Security interest unperfected before effective date.","body":"Sec. 9704.\n\nAll of the following apply to a security interest that is enforceable immediately before this amendatory act takes effect but which would be subordinate to the rights of a person that becomes a lien creditor at that time:\n\nThe security interest remains an enforceable security interest for 1 year after this amendatory act takes effect.\n\nThe security interest remains enforceable thereafter if the security interest becomes enforceable under section 9203 when this amendatory act takes effect or within 1 year thereafter.\n\nThe security interest becomes perfected under 1 of the following:\n\nWithout further action, when this amendatory act takes effect if the applicable requirements for perfection under this amendatory act are satisfied before or at that time.\n\nWhen the applicable requirements for perfection are satisfied if the requirements are satisfied after that time.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 440","Act Act-174-of-1962"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-440-9704","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"043e8d01a22272cc194197ff27784ee708c5e7570f62e4407689ebecfa8e5737","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9703","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9705"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
