Laws § 440.9707","heading":"Pre-effective-date financing statement.","body":"Sec. 9707.\n\nAs used in this section, \"pre-effective-date financing statement\" means a financing statement filed before this amendatory act takes effect.\n\nAfter this amendatory act takes effect, a person may add or delete collateral covered by, continue or terminate the effectiveness of, or otherwise amend the information provided in, a pre-effective-date financing statement only in accordance with the law of the jurisdiction governing perfection as provided in part 3. However, the effectiveness of a pre-effective-date financing statement also may be terminated in accordance with the law of the jurisdiction in which the financing statement is filed.\n\nExcept as otherwise provided in subsection (4), if the law of this state governs perfection of a security interest, the information in a pre-effective-date financing statement may be amended after this amendatory act takes effect only if 1 of the following is met:\n\nThe pre-effective-date financing statement and an amendment are filed in the office specified in section 9501.\n\nAn amendment is filed in the office specified in section 9501 concurrently with, or after the filing in that office of, an initial financing statement that satisfies section 9706(3).\n\nAn initial financing statement that provides the information as amended and satisfies section 9706(3) is filed in the office specified in section 9501.\n\nIf the law of this state governs perfection of a security interest, the effectiveness of a pre-effective-date financing statement may be continued only under section 9705(4) and (6) or 9706.\n\nWhether or not the law of this state governs perfection of a security interest, the effectiveness of a pre-effective-date financing statement filed in this state may be terminated after this amendatory act takes effect by filing a termination statement in the office in which the pre-effective-date financing statement is filed, unless an initial financing statement that satisfies section 9706(3) has been filed in the office specified by the law of the jurisdiction governing perfection as provided in part 3 as the office in which to file a financing statement.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 440","Act Act-174-of-1962"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-440-9707","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"b9530c014a232a2ff5b23409335df4bb4d5b0150e1a060bdd698758fe4519d50","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9706","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-440.9708"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
