Laws § 445.1759","heading":"Termination of owner's rights to article; circumstances; business as owner of article; disposition of article.","body":"Sec. 9.\n\nOn or after the effective date of this act, the owner's rights to an article shall immediately terminate if any of the following circumstances exists:\n\nThe article was delivered to the business for the purpose of cleaning or repair services and has been in the possession of that business for more than 1 year after the date of delivery to that business.\n\nThe article was delivered to the business for the purpose of storage and has been in the possession of that business for more than 1 year after the date the storage agreement terminated or expired.\n\nUpon the loss of the owner's rights to an article as provided for by this act, the business shall become the owner of the article.\n\nA business may sell, donate, or otherwise dispose of an article upon the loss of the owner's rights to an article.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 445","Act Act-257-of-1989"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-445-1759","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"ca417b8d43665e417600f62ed6db47640a33acb834027876a783ca4a528dec83","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-445.1757","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-445.1761"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
