Laws § 445.2522","heading":"Placement of security freeze on consumer's credit report; duties of consumer reporting agency.","body":"Sec. 12.\n\nWithin 5 business days after placing a security freeze on a consumer's credit report under section 11, the consumer reporting agency shall do all of the following:\n\n(a) Send a written confirmation of the security freeze to the consumer.\n\n(b) Provide the consumer with a unique personal identification number or password to be used by the consumer when authorizing the release of the consumer's credit report to a specific person or for a specific period of time.\n\n(c) Provide the consumer with a written statement of the procedures for requesting the consumer reporting agency to remove or temporarily lift a security freeze.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 445","Act Act-229-of-2013"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-445-2522","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"05834f8535104e66848e6364e37d7290c50a69897a2b289ce8d0f1af23cdbb36","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-445.2521","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-445.2523"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
