Laws § 450.175","heading":"Educational foundations; board of directors, trustees; powers.","body":"Sec. 175.\n\nSame; powers of board of directors or trustees. The control of the business and secular affairs of every such educational corporation shall be vested in a board of directors or trustees. Such board shall also have exclusive control over the educational affairs and policy of such institution, and as such may:\n\nFirst, Appoint, employ and pay the salary of a president, or principal, and such professors, tutors, assistants, and employees, as the board shall determine necessary;\n\nSecond, Direct and prescribe the course or courses of study and the rules of discipline for such institution, and enforce the same; and prescribe the tuition and other fees to be paid by students attending such institution;\n\nThird, Grant such diplomas, certificates of graduation, or honors and degrees, as the nature of the institution may warrant, or as contemplated in the articles;\n\nFourth, Delegate to the president or principal, and the various professors and tutors, such authority over the educational affairs of the institution as the board may deem advisable;\n\nFifth, Co-operate with other schools, colleges and educational institutions within this country in promoting the best interests of education.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 450","Act Act-327-of-1931"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-450-175","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"cc4e10dad193105ab27425353536ec243beaa88ecce885d7895efc3baa6714a7","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-450.174","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-450.176"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
