Laws § 456.536a","heading":"Preconstruction sales of crypts or niches.","body":"Sec. 16a.\n\nA person shall not develop or build a mausoleum or columbarium and engage in preconstruction sales of crypts or niches in a mausoleum or columbarium unless that person does both of the following:\n\nAgrees to complete the mausoleum or columbarium within 4 years after the date of the first sale of an entombment or inurnment right in the proposed mausoleum or columbarium or, if construction is not completed within that time and upon the request of the purchaser, agrees to offer to the purchaser a refund of 100% of the purchase price with interest calculated at the rate of 4% per annum.\n\nAgrees that if the person for whom the entombment or inurnment right in the proposed mausoleum or columbarium dies before completion of the mausoleum or columbarium, an alternative disposition of the remains shall be provided until completion of the mausoleum or columbarium or until a refund is made of 100% of the purchase price with interest calculated at the rate of 4% per annum.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 456","Act Act-251-of-1968"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-456-536a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"fb36f8cd083ff4ac3b4efe0c72faf92e8dbcb4ee4ca75ebdbb93cb2e5773836d","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-456.536","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-456.537"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
