Laws § 484.1314","heading":"Duties of service supplier or other owner or lessee of pay station telephone; installation of pay station telephone; costs of service supplier.","body":"Sec. 314.\n\nAt the time that a 9-1-1 system becomes operational or as soon as feasible thereafter, each service supplier or other owner or lessee of a pay station telephone to be operated within the 9-1-1 service district shall do both of the following:\n\nConvert or cause to be converted each such telephone to permit a caller to dial 9-1-1 without first inserting a coin or paying any other charge.\n\nProminently display on each such telephone a notice advising callers to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency and that deposit of a coin is not required.\n\nAfter commencement of 9-1-1 service in a 9-1-1 service district, a person shall not install, cause to be installed, or offer for use within the 9-1-1 district a pay station telephone, whether on public or private premises, unless the telephone is capable of accepting a 9-1-1 call without prior insertion of a coin or payment of any other charge, and displays the notice described in subsection (1).\n\nAll costs of a service supplier associated with converting pay station telephones and maintaining the required notices under this section shall be borne by the service users within the 9-1-1 district.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 484","Act Act-32-of-1986"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-484-1314","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"5c80c7f840d435b02b29896459271b1b1757b09b89bdb4a8993d251478f73010","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-484.1313","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-484.1315"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
