Laws § 484.2303","heading":"Effect of sale or transfer of stock; addition, elimination, or modification of area code; prohibition; bankruptcy.","body":"Sec. 303.\n\n(1) The sale or transfer of shares of stock of a provider of basic local exchange service is not a sale or transfer of a license or a discontinuance of service.\n\n(2) The commission has the authority to approve or deny a proposed addition, elimination, or modification of an area code in this state. The commission shall give public notice and shall conduct a public hearing in the affected geographic area before an addition, elimination, or modification of an area code is made in this state.\n\n(3) A license issued under this act is not transferable to an unlicensed provider.\n\n(4) In case of the bankruptcy of a licensed provider, the commission shall establish the procedures for the transfer of the license to another qualified provider.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 484","Act Act-179-of-1991"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-484-2303","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"170110ec8eac86abd94c398d5e5ec990eb62e50f3c5f865753bd5985d232dc3c","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-484.2302","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-484.2304"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
