Laws § 500.2070","heading":"Acceptance of rebate or illegal inducement prohibited; reduction of insurance; penalty.","body":"Sec. 2070.\n\nNo insured person or party shall receive or accept, directly or indirectly, any rebate of premium or part thereof, or agent's, solicitor's or broker's commission thereon, payable on the policy, or on any policy of insurance, or any favor or advantage or share in the dividend or other benefit to accrue thereon, or any valuable consideration or inducement, not specified in the policy contract of insurance.\n\nThe amount of the insurance whereon the insured has knowingly received or accepted, either directly or indirectly any rebate of the premium or agent's, solicitor's or broker's commission thereon, shall be reduced in such proportion as the amount or value of such rebate, commission, dividend, or other consideration so received by the insured bears to the total premium on such policy, and any person insured, in addition to having the insurance reduced, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $100.00.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 500","Act Act-218-of-1956"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-500-2070","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"b4722a08646370a84cc7b21b74b5e34e59f5dfce5d55745b4f17a97ae43c77df","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.2069","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.2075"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
