Laws § 500.8105","heading":"Receiver; application for relief.","body":"Sec. 8105.\n\nA receiver appointed in a proceeding under this chapter may at any time apply for, and the circuit court for Ingham county may grant, a restraining order, preliminary injunction, permanent injunction, and any other order as may be considered necessary and proper to prevent any of the following:\n\nThe transaction of further business by the insurer.\n\nThe transfer of property.\n\nInterference with the receiver or with a proceeding under this chapter.\n\nWaste of the insurer's assets.\n\nDissipation and transfer of bank accounts.\n\nThe institution or further prosecution of any actions or proceedings.\n\nThe obtaining of preferences, judgments, attachments, garnishments, or liens against the insurer, its assets, or its policyholders.\n\nThe levying of execution against the insurer, its assets, or its policyholders.\n\nThe making of a sale or deed for nonpayment of taxes or assessments that would lessen the value of the insurer's assets.\n\nThe withholding from the receiver of books, accounts, documents, or other records relating to the insurer's business.\n\nOther threatened or contemplated action that might lessen the value of the insurer's assets or prejudice the rights of policyholders, creditors, or shareholders, or the administration of a proceeding under this chapter.\n\nThe receiver may apply to a court outside of the state for the relief described in subsection (1).","path":["MI Code","Chapter 500","Act Act-218-of-1956"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-500-8105","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"1817900d0654dd300f909e0b83be9139cb97ae7fc028eba9e3e075d9138a7657","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.8104","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.8106"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
