Laws § 500.8119","heading":"Order of liquidation; continuation of policies in force; termination of coverages.","body":"Sec. 8119.\n\nAll policies, other than life or health insurance or annuities, in effect at the time of issuance of an order of liquidation shall continue in force only for the lesser of:\n\nA period of 30 days from the date of entry of the liquidation order.\n\nThe expiration of the policy coverage.\n\nThe date the insured replaces the insurance coverage with equivalent insurance in another insurer or otherwise terminates the policy.\n\nThe date the liquidator effects a transfer of the policy obligation pursuant to section 8121(1)(h).\n\nAn order of liquidation under section 8118 shall terminate coverages at the time specified in subsection (1) for purposes of any other statute.\n\nPolicies of life or health insurance or annuities shall continue in force for such period and under such terms as is provided for by an applicable guaranty association or foreign guaranty association.\n\nPolicies of life or health insurance or annuities or any period or coverage of such policies not covered by a guaranty association or foreign guaranty association shall terminate under subsections (1) and (2).","path":["MI Code","Chapter 500","Act Act-218-of-1956"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-500-8119","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"6281e14f309e73f4f548c59f548654ac3b6d42a04935cd5e76bee9b0eba19f99","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.8118a","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.8120"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
