Laws § 500.8141a","heading":"Payment of special deposit claims; priority; transfer of special deposits.","body":"Sec. 8141a.\n\nSpecial deposit claims shall be paid pursuant to the following order of priority:\n\nTo the receiver for the costs and expenses of the receivership.\n\nTo the guaranty association for the costs and expenses of administration with respect to the payment of claims.\n\nTo claims of Michigan policyholders of the insurer and to claimants of those Michigan policyholders.\n\nTo Michigan beneficiaries of insurance contracts owned by non-Michigan residents.\n\nTo other Michigan claimants of the insurer.\n\nTo claims of non-Michigan policyholders of the insurer and to claimants of those non-Michigan policyholders.\n\nTo non-Michigan beneficiaries of insurance contracts owned by non-Michigan residents.\n\nTo the stockholders or owners of the insurer.\n\nUpon request of a guaranty association of this state to which the insurer is a member, special deposits made by the insurer shall be transferred to that guaranty association for the payment of claims pursuant to this section.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 500","Act Act-218-of-1956"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-500-8141a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"10312f3d472ea6e6ff11fe5b10657bc35d150540287e67f2b17a5e21681a0b1f","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.8141","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-500.8142"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
