Laws § 552.2211","heading":"Spousal-support order; modification.","body":"Sec. 211.\n\n(1) A tribunal of this state issuing a spousal-support order consistent with the law of this state has continuing, exclusive jurisdiction to modify the spousal-support order throughout the existence of the support obligation.\n\n(2) A tribunal of this state may not modify a spousal-support order issued by a tribunal of another state or a foreign country having continuing, exclusive jurisdiction over that order under the law of that state or foreign country.\n\n(3) A tribunal of this state that has continuing, exclusive jurisdiction over a spousal-support order may serve as either of the following:\n\n(a) An initiating tribunal to request a tribunal of another state to enforce the spousal-support order issued in this state.\n\n(b) A responding tribunal to enforce or modify its own spousal-support order.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 552","Act Act-255-of-2015"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-552-2211","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"bcb4c4e985fe0a2ecbbf47096ebf733373ca820d576e343f9249aa2505a1f06f","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-552.2210","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-552.2301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
