Laws § 552.2710","heading":"Recognition and enforcement of foreign support agreement registered in this state.","body":"Sec. 710.\n\n(1) Except as otherwise provided in subsections (3) and (4), a tribunal of this state shall recognize and enforce a foreign support agreement registered in this state.\n\n(2) An application or direct request for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement must be accompanied by the following:\n\n(a) A complete text of the foreign support agreement.\n\n(b) A record stating that the foreign support agreement is enforceable as an order of support in the issuing country.\n\n(3) A tribunal of this state may vacate the registration of a foreign support agreement only if, acting on its own motion, the tribunal finds that recognition and enforcement would be manifestly incompatible with public policy.\n\n(4) In a contest of a foreign support agreement, a tribunal of this state may refuse recognition and enforcement of the agreement if it finds the following:\n\n(a) Recognition and enforcement of the agreement is manifestly incompatible with public policy.\n\n(b) The agreement was obtained by fraud or falsification.\n\n(c) The agreement is incompatible with a support order involving the same parties and having the same purpose in this state, another state, or a foreign country if the support order is entitled to recognition and enforcement under this act in this state.\n\n(d) The record submitted under subsection (2) lacks authenticity or integrity.\n\n(5) A proceeding for recognition and enforcement of a foreign support agreement must be suspended during the pendency of a challenge to or appeal of the agreement before a tribunal of another state or a foreign country.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 552","Act Act-255-of-2015"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-552-2710","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"7455b376e2b22d3d832ecec5186a828dcde83ee948ba054a26c3bee708526744","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-552.2709","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-552.2711"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
