Laws § 554.632","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Sec. 2.\n\nAs used in this act:\n\n\"Rental agreement\" means a written agreement embodying the terms and conditions concerning the use and occupancy of residential premises, but does not include an agreement the terms of which are limited to 1 or more of the following: the identity of the parties, a description of the premises, the rental period, the total rental amount due, the amount of rental payments, and the times at which payments are due.\n\n\"Residential premises\" means a house, building, structure, shelter, or mobile home, or portion thereof, used as a dwelling, home, residence, or living place by 1 or more human beings. \"Residential premises\" includes an apartment unit, a boardinghouse, a rooming house, a mobile home, a mobile home space, and a single or multiple family dwelling, but does not include a hotel, a motel, motor home, or other tourist accommodation, when used as a temporary accommodation for guests or tourists, or premises used as the principal place of residence of the owner and rented occasionally during temporary absences including vacation or sabbatical leave.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 554","Act Act-454-of-1978"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-554-632","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"d575399ab048d13d60fa9272c6b25f98676c68c1359c1dc43fcc7879847f7c16","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-554.631","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-554.633"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
