Laws § 600.1621","heading":"Venue; determination; exceptions.","body":"Sec. 1621.\n\nExcept for actions provided for in sections 1605, 1611, 1615, and 1629, venue is determined as follows:\n\nThe county in which a defendant resides, has a place of business, or conducts business, or in which the registered office of a defendant corporation is located, is a proper county in which to commence and try an action.\n\nIf none of the defendants meet 1 or more of the criteria in subdivision (a), the county in which a plaintiff resides or has a place of business, or in which the registered office of a plaintiff corporation is located, is a proper county in which to commence and try an action.\n\nAn action against a fiduciary appointed by court order shall be commenced in the county in which the fiduciary was appointed.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 600","Act Act-236-of-1961"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-600-1621","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"e80decb5a473bb3e2c6c4ca792fb2fab8c225efe6ae78b974324d79c781fc310","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.1615","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.1627"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
