Laws § 600.1913","heading":"Process; substituted service.","body":"Sec. 1913.\n\nService of process may be made,\n\nupon an individual nonresident defendant having any of the contacts, ties or relations with this state as specified in chapter 7 of this act, by service of a summons and a copy of the complaint upon such agent, employee, representative, salesman or servant of the defendant as may be found within the state, and by sending a summons and a copy of the complaint by registered mail addressed to the defendant at his last known address.\n\nupon an infant defendant, by leaving a summons and a copy of the complaint with a person having the care and control of him with whom he resides, or with his legal guardian, or\n\nupon a defendant who has been judicially declared incompetent and for whom a guardian has been appointed and is acting, by leaving a summons and a copy of the complaint with the guardian.\n\nIf the individual defendant is in a state institution a copy of the complaint shall also be mailed to the attorney general.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 600","Act Act-236-of-1961"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-600-1913","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"58e945a400e3f1e49965c397158344827579dbb333e05e28f2fade4bf4cc644f","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.1912","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.1917"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
