Laws § 600.2184","heading":"Unsworn declaration; effect same as sworn declaration.","body":"Sec. 2184.\n\n(1) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (2), if a law of this state requires or permits use of a sworn declaration, an unsworn declaration meeting the requirements of this chapter has the same effect as a sworn declaration.\n\n(2) This chapter does not apply to any of the following:\n\n(a) A deposition.\n\n(b) An oath of office.\n\n(c) An oath required to be given before a specified official other than a notary public.\n\n(d) A declaration to be recorded with a register of deeds.\n\n(e) An oath required by section 2504 of the estates and protected individuals code, 1998 PA 386, MCL 700.2504.\n\n(f) A declaration in a document filed with the court in the course of administering the estate of a decedent.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 600","Act Act-236-of-1961"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-600-2184","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"7e602bec97558165bc83cfc2c921a82cb7178e38ed68648bcca299ac9ee5f8f3","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.2183","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.2185"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
