Laws § 600.244","heading":"Filing fees to supreme court; waiver; costs.","body":"Sec. 244.\n\nThe following fees shall be paid to the supreme court clerk and may be taxed as costs when costs are allowed by the supreme court:\n\nThe sum of $375.00 for an application for leave to appeal.\n\nThe sum of $375.00 for an original proceeding.\n\nThe sum of $150.00 for a motion for immediate consideration or a motion to expedite appeal, except that a prosecuting attorney is exempt from paying a fee under this subdivision in an appeal arising out of a criminal proceeding, if the defendant is represented by a court-appointed lawyer.\n\nThe sum of $75.00 for all other motions.\n\nFifty cents per page for a certified copy of a paper, from a public record.\n\nThe sum of $5.00 for certified docket entries.\n\nThe sum of $1.00 for certification of a copy presented to the clerk.\n\nFifty cents per page for a copy of an opinion; however, 1 copy must be given without charge to the attorney for each party in the case.\n\nA person who is unable to pay a filing fee may ask the supreme court to waive the fee by filing a motion and an affidavit disclosing the reason for that inability.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 600","Act Act-236-of-1961"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-600-244","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"32067b544bac956909b54628e41e8682d3c22728de3a3814b78fc76da9d3c34a","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.2435","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.2441"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
