Laws § 600.2561","heading":"Coroners; compensation or fees.","body":"Sec. 2561.\n\nCoroners shall be entitled to such compensation as shall be determined by the board of supervisors, or to the following fees:\n\nFor all services rendered by them, the same fees as are herein allowed to sheriffs for similar services.\n\nFor the view of a dead body, and for taking and returning an inquisition thereof, $5.00.\n\nFor traveling to the place of such view, 10 cents for each mile both ways.\n\nFor every subpoena, warrant or venire for a jury, 25 cents.\n\nSwearing each witness, 10 cents; but the charges for swearing witnesses in any one case, shall not exceed 50 cents.\n\nFor taking a recognizance, 25 cents.\n\nAll the fees herein allowed to coroners, except for such services authorized to be performed as sheriff as are not chargeable to the county, shall be allowed and paid by the proper county.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 600","Act Act-236-of-1961"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-600-2561","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"0b70d039554893dd81fa0af089018bb3517336a524dd162f78d5a2292c7cbf8c","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.2559","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-600.2567"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
