Laws § 691.1132","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Sec. 2.\n\nAs used in this act:\n\n(a) \"Foreign country\" means a government other than any of the following:\n\n( i ) The United States.\n\n( ii ) A state, district, commonwealth, territory, or insular possession of the United States.\n\n( iii ) A federally recognized Indian tribe whose tribal court judgments are entitled to recognition and presumed to be valid under a court rule adopted by the supreme court.\n\n( iv ) Any other government with regard to which the decision in this state as to whether to recognize a judgment of that government's courts is initially subject to determination under the full faith and credit clause of the United States constitution.\n\n(b) \"Foreign-country judgment\" means the judgment of a court of a foreign country.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 691","Act Act-20-of-2008"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-691-1132","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"7e15a6bd033ff148e56352d85d5b514b861ebaa46332c47715bdaec7ecb86fe7","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-691.1131","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-691.1133"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
