Laws § 691.1633","heading":"Definitions.","body":"Sec. 3.\n\nAs used in this act:\n\n(a) \"Child social welfare program\" means a child welfare residential or home-based program, a program involving foster care coordination including adoption activities, a respite care program, or behavioral health or early education services operating under contract and as an agent for the department of human services.\n\n(b) \"Gross negligence\" means conduct or a failure to act that is so reckless that it demonstrates a substantial lack of concern for whether an injury will result.\n\n(c) \"Person\" means an individual, partnership, corporation, association, or other legal entity, other than a governmental agency.\n\n(d) \"Social services agency\" means a person, other than an individual, that is licensed by this state to provide child social welfare programs.\n\n(e) \"Willful misconduct\" means conduct or a failure to act that is intended to harm the plaintiff.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 691","Act Act-590-of-2012"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-691-1633","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"1bb47a6d58a22645d44c16f6132fbf6851c4a2dea092f8bdad9d668ccd4ab2ea","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-691.1631","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-691.1635"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
