Laws § 691.1686","heading":"Validity of agreement to arbitrate.","body":"Sec. 6.\n\n(1) An agreement contained in a record to submit to arbitration any existing or subsequent controversy arising between the parties to the agreement is valid, enforceable, and irrevocable except on a ground that exists at law or in equity for the revocation of a contract.\n\n(2) The court shall decide whether an agreement to arbitrate exists or a controversy is subject to an agreement to arbitrate.\n\n(3) An arbitrator shall decide whether a condition precedent to arbitrability has been fulfilled and whether a contract containing a valid agreement to arbitrate is enforceable.\n\n(4) If a party to a judicial proceeding challenges the existence of, or claims that a controversy is not subject to, an agreement to arbitrate, the arbitration proceeding may continue pending final resolution of the issue by the court, unless the court otherwise orders.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 691","Act Act-371-of-2012"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-691-1686","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"5c7b79eead2d7dcd790193917c0f9fd7c1107a68f586ea434b100b64877e93d9","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-691.1685","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-691.1687"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
