Laws § 70.6","heading":"Storage and handling of hazardous substances; prevention and suppression of fires; ordinance; fire inspectors; authority subject to state and federal law.","body":"Sec. 6.\n\nThe council may provide by ordinance for the storage and handling of combustible, explosive, or other hazardous substances.\n\nThe council may provide by ordinance for the prevention and suppression of fires. The ordinance may prescribe, but need not be limited to, the manner of construction of buildings and other structures within the village or certain districts of the village.\n\nThe council may provide by ordinance for the appointment of fire inspectors, and may appoint fire inspectors. The ordinance may provide for the periodic examination by the fire inspectors of the stoves, furnaces, and heating apparatus and devices in all dwellings, buildings, and structures within the village, and in all places where combustible or explosive substances are kept, and authorize fire inspectors to require stoves, furnaces, and heating apparatus and devices that pose a fire hazard to be put in a safe condition.\n\nThe authority granted under this section is subject to state and federal law.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 61","Act Act-3-of-1895"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-70-6","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"5473de69bbc70cb0df4ec942653333e6ec8222e49a6b1a04c1411f8c21887d81","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-70.4","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-70.9"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
