Laws § 700.5207","heading":"Review of guardianship of minor.","body":"Sec. 5207.\n\nThe court may review a guardianship for a minor as it considers necessary and shall review a guardianship annually if the minor is under 6 years of age. In conducting the review, the court shall consider all of the following factors:\n\nThe parent's and guardian's compliance with either of the following, as applicable:\n\nA limited guardianship placement plan.\n\nA court-structured plan under subsection (3)(b)( ii )(B) or section 5209(2)(b)( ii ).\n\nWhether the guardian has adequately provided for the minor's welfare.\n\nThe necessity of continuing the guardianship.\n\nThe guardian's willingness and ability to continue to provide for the minor's welfare.\n\nThe effect upon the minor's welfare if the guardianship is continued.\n\nAny other factor that the court considers relevant to the minor's welfare.\n\nThe court may order the family independence agency or a court employee or agent to conduct an investigation and file a written report of the investigation regarding the factors listed in subsection (1).\n\nUpon completion of a guardianship review, the court may do either of the following:\n\nContinue the guardianship.\n\nSchedule and conduct a hearing on the guardianship's status and do any of the following:\n\nIf the guardianship is a limited guardianship, do either of the following:\n\nContinue the limited guardianship.\n\nOrder the parties to modify the limited guardianship placement plan as a condition to continuing the limited guardianship.\n\nIf the guardianship was established under section 5204, do either of the following:\n\nContinue the guardianship.\n\nOrder the parties to follow a court-structured plan designed to resolve the conditions identified at the review hearing.\n\nTake an action described in section 5209(2).","path":["MI Code","Chapter 700","Act Act-386-of-1998"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-700-5207","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"df3fa65f0f5a7d43ffe68423b95986e06304a861bf8ef674d26f770d293d33c5","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-700.5206","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-700.5208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
