Laws § 712A.6b","heading":"Order affecting nonparent adult.","body":"Sec. 6b.\n\nThe court may issue an order that affects a nonparent adult and that does 1 or more of the following:\n\nRequires the nonparent adult to participate in the development of a case service plan.\n\nRequires the nonparent adult to comply with a case service plan.\n\nPermanently removes the nonparent adult from the home of the child as provided in section 13a of this chapter.\n\nPermanently restrains the nonparent adult from coming into contact with or within close proximity of the child.\n\nExcept as provided in subsection (3), a nonparent adult who violates an order issued under this section is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 1 year or a fine of not more than $1,000.00, or both.\n\nA nonparent adult who violates an order issued under this section and who has 1 or more prior convictions for violating an order issued under this section is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 2 years or a fine of not more than $2,000.00, or both.\n\nThis section does not prohibit a nonparent adult from being charged with, convicted of, or punished for any other violation of law the nonparent adult commits while violating an order issued under this section.\n\nThis section does not prohibit the court from exercising its criminal or civil contempt powers for a violation of an order issued under this section.\n\nThis section does not in any manner affect the authority or jurisdiction of the court as provided in section 6.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 701","Act Act-288-of-1939"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-712A-6b","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"32de078c5906f02b68c89ddf93beb5b71b8377c84e68302c2a505069ce2a69c1","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-712a.6a","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-712a.7"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
