Laws § 722.1205","heading":"Notice and hearing.","body":"Sec. 205.\n\nBefore a child-custody determination is made under this act, notice and an opportunity to be heard in accordance with the standards of section 108 must be given to each person entitled to notice under the law of this state as in child-custody proceedings between residents of this state, a parent whose parental rights have not been previously terminated, and a person having physical custody of the child.\n\nThis act does not govern the enforceability of a child-custody determination made without notice and an opportunity to be heard.\n\nThe obligation to join a party and the right to intervene as a party in a child-custody proceeding under this act are governed by the law of this state as in child-custody proceedings between residents of this state.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 722","Act Act-195-of-2001"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-722-1205","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"fc581be13ec5df9e7e35c495d6eb0a2f440418a2bb983cef499f74418f27d231","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-722.1204","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-722.1206"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
