Laws § 750.227d","heading":"Transporting or possessing firearm in or upon motor vehicle or self-propelled vehicle designed for land travel; violation as misdemeanor; penalty.","body":"Sec. 227d.\n\n(1) Except as otherwise permitted by law, a person shall not transport or possess in or upon a motor vehicle or any self-propelled vehicle designed for land travel either of the following:\n\n(a) A firearm, other than a pistol, unless the firearm is unloaded and is 1 or more of the following:\n\n( i ) Taken down.\n\n( ii ) Enclosed in a case.\n\n( iii ) Carried in the trunk of the vehicle.\n\n( iv ) Inaccessible from the interior of the vehicle.\n\n(b) A pneumatic gun that expels a metallic BB or metallic pellet greater than .177 caliber unless the pneumatic gun is unloaded and is 1 or more of the following:\n\n( i ) Taken down.\n\n( ii ) Enclosed in a case.\n\n( iii ) Carried in the trunk of the vehicle.\n\n( iv ) Inaccessible from the interior of the vehicle.\n\n(2) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or a fine of not more than $100.00, or both.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 750","Act Act-328-of-1931"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-750-227d","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"d735694cca8bfc087b7166c5946b19125f5bf474e3917ce03cc1a06ae3ba5637","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-750.227c","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-750.227f"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
