Laws § 767.7b","heading":"Grand jury; petition by attorney general or county prosecuting attorneys to convene; jurisdiction; contents of petition.","body":"Sec. 7b.\n\nThe attorney general may petition the court of appeals of this state to convene a grand jury with jurisdiction over 2 or more counties in this state.\n\nTwo or more attorneys who are county prosecuting attorneys in this state may, with the approval of the attorney general, petition the court of appeals of this state to convene a grand jury with jurisdiction over all of the counties in which they are prosecuting attorneys.\n\nA petition to the court of appeals under this section shall contain all of the following:\n\nThe name and official title of each petitioner.\n\nThe name of each county over which the grand jury is to have jurisdiction.\n\nA statement setting forth probable cause to believe that a crime, or a portion of that crime, has been committed in 2 or more of the counties named in the petition.\n\nA statement setting forth the reasons to convene a grand jury with jurisdiction over all of the counties named in the petition.\n\nThe signature of each petitioner.\n\nThe date of the petition.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 760","Act Act-175-of-1927"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-767-7b","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"309746a455f099e4f8c9997f55abf3ef6fe66a5f413a640a676d77a37ce55b51","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-767.7a","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-767.7c"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
