Laws § 780.753","heading":"Information to be given victim.","body":"Sec. 3.\n\nWithin 24 hours after the initial contact between the victim of a reported crime and the law enforcement agency having the responsibility for investigating that crime, that agency shall give to the victim the following information in writing:\n\nThe availability of emergency and medical services, if applicable.\n\nThe availability of victim's compensation benefits and the address of the crime victims compensation board.\n\nThe address and telephone number of the prosecuting attorney whom the victim should contact to obtain information about victim's rights.\n\nThe following statements:\n\n\"If you would like to be notified of an arrest in your case or the release of the person arrested, or both, you should call [identify law enforcement agency and telephone number] and inform them.\"\n\n\"If you are not notified of an arrest in your case, you may call this law enforcement agency at [the law enforcement agency's telephone number] for the status of the case.\".","path":["MI Code","Chapter 780","Act Act-87-of-1985"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-780-753","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"0540f3ba192fee237cf58ea8b1b1fcf2954004b0a1690bc1fd03301b9e44ca15","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-780.752a","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-780.754"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
