Laws § 780.769a","heading":"Defendant found not guilty by reason of insanity; notice to victim from director of hospital or facility.","body":"Sec. 19a.\n\n(1) On a victim's written request, the director of a hospital or facility where a defendant found not guilty by reason of insanity has been hospitalized or admitted by court order shall notify the victim of the following:\n\n(a) A pending transfer of the defendant to a less secure hospital or facility.\n\n(b) A pending transfer of the defendant to alternative care or treatment, community placement, or aftercare reintegration.\n\n(c) A pending leave, absence, furlough, or other release from confinement for the defendant, whether temporary or permanent.\n\n(2) A notice required by subsection (1) shall be given by any means reasonably calculated to give the victim prompt actual notice.\n\n(3) A victim's address and telephone number maintained by a hospital or facility under this section is exempt from disclosure under the freedom of information act, 1976 PA 442, MCL 15.231 to 15.246.","path":["MI Code","Chapter 780","Act Act-87-of-1985"],"source_url":"https://www.legislature.mi.gov/Laws/MCL?objectName=mcl-780-769a","current_through":"2026-08-14","vintage":"open-us-law v2026.08, retrieved 2026-09-14","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T18:32:31Z","sha256":"8345817e210e75d32146c33c63f8329a19de7e34254d3da74400727aa8b9ea18","source_id":"us-mi","stale":false,"prev":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-780.769","next":"us-mi/mich.-comp.-laws-780.770"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
