Laws § 791.262a","heading":"Local lockup advisory board; creation; appointment, term, and expenses of members; first meeting; election of chairperson; quorum; model policy; review.","body":"Sec. 62a.\n\nA local lockup advisory board is created within the bureau of prisons. The board shall consist of 7 members appointed for a period of 4 years. The director of each of the following shall appoint 1 member:\n\nThe department of state police.\n\nThe Michigan association of chiefs of police.\n\nThe Michigan municipal league.\n\nThe Michigan townships association.\n\nThe Michigan judges' association.\n\nThe Michigan district judges' association.\n\nThe Michigan sheriffs' association.\n\nThe members appointed under subsection (1) shall serve without compensation but shall be entitled to actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of official duties.\n\nThe first meeting of the advisory board shall be convened within 60 days after the effective date of this section, at which time the members appointed under subsection (1) shall elect a chairperson. A quorum shall consist of 4 members.\n\nThe local lockup advisory board shall develop and promote a model policy for use in the administration of local lockups, holding cells, and holding centers. The model policy shall be developed within 6 months after the date of the first meeting.
