Laws § 87.38","heading":"City officers; compensation; fees.","body":"Sec. 38.\n\nThe mayor shall receive an annual salary as the council determines and aldermen may each receive a salary as prescribed by the council. The city marshal, clerk, treasurer, city attorney, and engineer of the fire department shall each receive an annual salary as the council determines by ordinance. Constables and officers serving process and making arrests, when engaged in causes and proceedings for violations of the ordinances of the city, may charge and receive the fees allowed to those officers for the same services by the laws of the state.
